SOCIAL: SURREY FARMERS PROTEST
Farmers play an important role in society. They work hard under the gleaming sun and maintain the health of crops. These crops come from abroad and into the many grocery stores in Surrey, to be sold to our citizens. The farmers in India have provided sustinence for not only people in Surrey but throughout Canada. Their role in our society must be acknowledged. According to CBC, "Farmers in India have been protesting since September when new laws were enacted that opponents say will result in the government not buying grain at guaranteed prices" (CBC News 2020). We must ensure that the supply chain of crops are protected. We need to support the Indian protestors in solidarity as they provide us with the very thing that ensures our livelyhoods. It is clear that society believes that Farmers are less important than Nurses or Doctors. But it is these very farmers that feed you and your loved ones. Their important role cannot be emphasized more. Next time you see these protestors, show some support by honking your horn. With that, help them make a difference in their country so that we can continue to benifit off of their generosity.

SOCIAL: SAVE BEAR CREEK PARK
There has been a group of people that have been protesting against municipal developments on Bear Creek Park. This park contains an ecosystem for many wild lifes. The city of Surrey plans to build a road that goes through the center of the park in an effort to reduce the car accident rate. The problem with this is the fact that it is going to be a major arterial road and as per the fundemental proponents of a walkable city, it is these major roads that increase the risk for both drivers and pedestrians. Further, wildlife will be significantly impacted. Whichever decision the municipality of Surrey decides, it should be considerate of these. Bear Creek park is a beautiful park that locals enjoy. The creation of mentioned road will significantly impact the enjoyment of residents.
